MJMT Inc. is an independent creative, audiovisual production and cultural services company. Its hybrid structure develops and produces its own works while also supporting external projects. The idea is to create the conditions that allow works and artists who find themselves between categories to develop with the artistic, technical and structural resources they need.
We operate as a flexible and collaborative structure where expertise can move from one project to another, and where artistic creation and production capacity develop together. It is a human-scale production ecosystem: teams are assembled according to the needs of each project, bringing together expertise in directing, image, editing, sound, post-production, graphic design and production.
Through its productions and collaborations, MJMT is particularly interested in auteur-driven work, documentary and experimental practices, and projects that move between cinema, media arts, culture and community engagement.
The Position MJMT is creating a permanent position to support the development of its productions. The person will take charge of post-production, graphic design work and visual integration, work on camera as needed, and handle the related technical coordination.
This is also not a position intended to remain limited to technical execution. The person will be trained and gradually take on greater responsibilities in production coordination and the company’s broader operations.
Post-Production
Ingesting, backing up, renaming, sorting and organizing footage.
Creating and managing proxies.
Synchronizing audio and video.
Preparing and organizing projects and timelines.
Creating stringouts, pre-selections and first assemblies.
Preparing exports for editing, sound, mixing, colour grading, subtitles and screenings.
Preparing and circulating files between departments.
Version management.
Technical quality control.
Preparing masters and deliverables.
Archiving projects and media.
Graphic Design and Visual Integration
Creating and adapting titles, intertitles, title cards, on-screen text and other graphic elements.
Preparing Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects or equivalent files for integration into the edit.
Adapting graphic elements based on an existing visual direction.
Extracting and preparing stills.
Preparing occasional visual materials associated with productions and their distribution.
Image and Camera
Technical preparation for shoots.
Camera operation.
Additional coverage: alternate angles, details, B-roll, textures, gestures and environmental shots.
Camera testing before shoots.
Preparing and checking equipment.
Managing cards, batteries and media.
Transferring, securing and verifying footage.
Collaborating with the Director of Photography when one is engaged on the project.
This function includes both image capture and the technical management of equipment and media after the shoot.
Technical Coordination
Tracking a project’s media, files, versions and deliverables.
Organizing exchanges between editing, image, sound, colour grading, graphics and production.
Tracking post-production schedules.
Ensuring that required elements are ready before a project moves to the next stage.
Identifying technical issues or missing elements before they interrupt the workflow.
Coordinating specific needs directly with artists, technicians and service providers involved in the productions.
The position is designed to grow with the person who holds it.
Over the first 12 to 24 months, MJMT plans to support and train the person so they can progressively take on:
production coordination;
resource planning;
operational budget tracking;
supplier and service-provider follow-up;
preparation and follow-up of project mandates;
organization of multiple productions running in parallel;
documentation and improvement of internal procedures;
broader coordination of audiovisual operations;
eventually, supervision of technical collaborators.
The objective is therefore not to hire someone who already masters all of these functions. We are looking for someone who brings solid technical experience from the outset and wants to develop a second layer of skills in coordination and production management.
Profile
Significant professional experience in audiovisual post-production, editing, graphic design, motion design or related disciplines.
Hands-on experience with complete post-production cycles.
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent tools.
Good understanding of proxies, formats, codecs, exports, image/sound exchanges, versions, masters and deliverables.
Experience with camera operation.
Ability to check production equipment and properly manage media after a shoot.
Ability to work across multiple productions whose teams, methods and needs will vary.
Interest in production coordination and developing management skills.
