We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented and highly organized Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to join our team as a maternity leave replacement. This is a fixed term position between October 1, 2026 until January 31, 2027. However, based on company needs and individual performance this may lead to a full-time position being extended.
We are open to candidates with extensive bookkeeping experience as well as candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong accounting fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, initiative and the ability to learn quickly.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle for 2–4 companies with different business activities, ensuring each company's records are accurate, current and properly maintained.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, payment processing, customer receipts, reconciliations and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Perform bank, credit-card, AP, AR and other account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and make corrections as required.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and charts of accounts and ensure transactions are posted to the appropriate accounts and companies.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, intercompany transactions and other adjusting entries.
- Complete monthly and annual bookkeeping close processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded, accounts are reconciled and financial records are complete and accurate.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Review financial statements and general-ledger accounts for unusual transactions, inconsistencies, errors or items requiring further investigation.
- Prepare, reconcile and file GST/PST returns and other various federal and provincial government forms accurately and on time.
- Maintain proper separation of accounting records between the different companies and ensure transactions are recorded in the correct entity.
Expectations of the Candidate
- Be able to work confidently with both QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop and manage multiple company files accurately.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and organization when working across different companies and accounting platforms.
- Work independently with minimal supervision once training and transition are completed.
- Be proactive in identifying discrepancies, unusual transactions, missing information or potential accounting issues and take appropriate steps to resolve them.
- Be able to learn and adapt quickly to the different accounting procedures, business activities and requirements of each company.
- Maintain strict separation of records between companies and ensure all transactions are recorded in the correct company, account and reporting period.
- Meet all bookkeeping, reporting, GST/PST and federal/provincial filing deadlines consistently.
- Keep accounting records, reconciliations, supporting documentation and electronic files complete, accurate and well organized.
- Communicate clearly with management, external accountants/CPAs, government agencies and other parties when required.
- Ask questions when clarification is needed rather than making assumptions, while also demonstrating the ability to research and solve routine accounting issues independently.
- Be comfortable working with changing priorities and managing the accounting needs of 2–4 companies with different business activities.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
