Established in 1980, Grant Metal Products Ltd. provides custom sheet metal fabrication for the construction and glazing industries throughout Western Canada and beyond.

We are looking for a technically minded CAD Designer / CNC Programmer to join our team. This position is heavily focused on CAD, manufacturing drawings, CNC programming and design for fabrication.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in both AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, can interpret customer and architectural drawings, and enjoys taking a concept or drawing and figuring out how to turn it into something that can actually be manufactured.

What You'll Be Doing

- Create and modify 2D CAD drawings in AutoCAD for custom sheet metal fabrication.
- Create 3D parts and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor.
- Convert customer drawings, sketches and specifications into accurate manufacturing drawings and work instructions.
- Develop flat patterns and fabrication details for sheet metal components.
- Program CNC fabrication equipment using CAD/CAM and machine-specific software.
- Review drawings, dimensions, material specifications and manufacturing information for accuracy before releasing work to production.
- Interpret architectural, mechanical and engineering drawings.
- Assist with the design and development of fabricated products and assemblies, such as cabinets, enclosures, panels and other custom sheet metal products.
- Design components with real-world manufacturing requirements in mind, including bends, fastening, assembly, material utilization and production methods.
- Work with production staff to resolve fabrication or design issues and improve manufacturability.
- Coordinate with customers when clarification of drawings, dimensions, materials or design intent is required.
- Help develop and improve CAD standards,

templates, workflows and manufacturing processes.

Required Skills & Experience

- Previous professional CAD/drafting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or comparable 3D parametric CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of dimensions, geometry and basic manufacturing mathematics.
- Comfortable working in both Metric and Imperial measurement systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office. Excel proficiency is important.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail. Accuracy is critical in this position.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.

Skills That Will Make You Stand Out We're particularly interested in candidates who have experience with one or more of the following:

- Sheet metal design and fabrication
- Autodesk Inventor sheet metal tools, assemblies and drawings
- Designing cabinets, enclosures, equipment housings or other fabricated assemblies
- Developing products from a concept or sketch through to a manufacturable design
- CNC programming or CAD/CAM software
- Pattern development and flat-pattern creation
- Architectural metal, glazing or construction-related fabrication
- Designing for bending, punching,

routing, fastening and assembly
- Working directly with production or fabrication teams
- Improving or automating CAD and manufacturing workflows
- Using AI tools for technical research, problem solving, workflow improvement and productivity

Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of how parts actually get made on the shop floor are highly valued.

Who We're Looking For

This role is a valuable fit for someone who enjoys more than simply drafting what they're given.

We want someone who can look at a drawing or idea and think:

How should this be designed? How will we manufacture it? How can we make it simpler, more accurate and easier to produce?

You should be comfortable moving between customer drawings, AutoCAD, Inventor, CNC programming and conversations with the production floor.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting wage: $25.00–$30.00/hour, depending on experience, CAD ability and demonstrated competency.

Benefits include

- Extended health care
- Dental care
- Employee assistance program
- On-site parking
