AGI Enviroclean Ltd. is seeking a qualified CFAA-Certified Fire Alarm Technician to support the continued growth of our fire alarm and specialized services department.

This position will involve work on projects throughout Ontario, with the potential for travel to remote locations across Canada, including the Canadian Arctic, depending on project requirements. Certain remote assignments may require technicians to remain on site for extended periods or work scheduled rotations.

The successful candidate will support the installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems across government, institutional, industrial, commercial and construction environments.

As this department continues to grow, there is potential for ongoing and full-time employment in Ontario, in addition to opportunities to participate in specialized remote projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Install fire alarm systems in accordance with approved blueprints, schematics, technical specifications and applicable requirements.
- Inspect and test fire alarm systems and components to verify proper operation and system functionality.
- Install, inspect and service smoke detectors, heat detectors, sensors, control panels, notification devices, wiring, power supplies and related components.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions using specialized testing equipment and electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Perform maintenance, repairs and modifications to fire alarm systems and associated equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Work with low-voltage wiring and circuitry associated with fire detection and alarm systems.
- Use hand tools, power tools and specialized testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify deficiencies and assist with determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with construction teams, project supervisors, clients and other trades.
- Document inspections, testing, repairs, deficiencies and system modifications for project and compliance records.
- Follow all applicable health and safety procedures, including requirements related to electrical hazards, construction environments, remote work and extreme weather conditions.




- Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach while working independently or as part of a project team.

Required Qualifications

- Current CFAA Fire Alarm Technician certification is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with the installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, servicing, maintenance and/or repair of fire alarm systems.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, components and testing procedures.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings and technical diagrams.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and circuitry used in fire detection systems.
- Familiarity with smoke detectors, heat detectors, sensors, control panels, notification devices and related fire alarm components.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and specialized testing equipment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a project team.
- Willingness and ability to travel for project assignments, including potential extended or rotational assignments in remote locations such as the Canadian Arctic.
- Robust commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to successfully complete any security screening or security clearance requirements associated with government, defence or other secured projects.

Preferred Qualifications

- Construction experience involving fire alarm, electrical, low-voltage or mechanical systems.
- Experience working on government, institutional, industrial or large construction projects.
- Previous experience working in remote, northern or challenging environmental conditions.
- Valid driver's licence.
- WHMIS.
- First Aid/CPR.
- Working at Heights.
- Other applicable construction and safety certifications.
- Experience preparing fire alarm inspection, testing, deficiency and service documentation.

Please Note: While candidates who currently hold their CFAA Fire Alarm Technician certification are preferred, AGI Enviroclean Ltd. is also open to speaking with experienced candidates who are interested in the position but have not yet completed their CFAA certification. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their ability and anticipated timeline to complete the required CFAA program/certification at their own cost as a condition of being considered for applicable fire alarm technician assignments.

Some projects may also require candidates to successfully complete security screening and obtain the applicable security clearance prior to mobilization.

Pay: $21.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
