Job Summary

Rykar Industries Ltd is a privately owned leading manufacturer of Oilfield Equipment in Red Deer, Alberta. We specialize in manufacturing well service equipment; specifically, service rigs and auxiliary equipment including pump trucks, rig tanks, junk racks, and dog houses and pump rentals.

Reporting to the Owner, this Controller position is designed for someone who is comfortable managing the complete accounting cycle, processing and overseeing payroll & GST, working across multiple entities and taking ownership of accurate and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the complete accounting cycle for Canadian and some U.S. transactions
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting working papers
- Complete month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Monitor customer collections, vendor payments and working capital
- Prepare bank, credit card, intercompany and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Process & maintain payroll records and prepare required payroll remittances and Year End T4 filings
- Prepare GST, sales tax and other government filings
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Manage cash-flow reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis
- Maintain accounting controls, procedures and documentation
- Coordinate information required by external accountants and other professional advisors
- Manage and prepare reporting for special projects
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting and internal controls

Qualifications
- Several years (5+) of progressive full-cycle accounting experience
- Robust practical knowledge of payroll and payroll-related reporting
- Experience with Canadian accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required
- Proficiency with Sage Products; Sage 300 CRE, Crystal Reports & Office Connector software knowledge is an asset.
- Strong Microsoft product skills
- Experience preparing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong qualified judgment and discretion
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the Owner and Operational Management

A CPA designation is not a requirement. Equivalent hands-on accounting experience will be given full consideration.
