10 DEAN is a small group of coffee-and-cocktail bars around Toronto. Elm is our flagship and the only location with a full kitchen — daytime food that runs through the coffee program, and a small evening menu that runs alongside the bar. This role is for that kitchen.We sit inside a residential building, and we lean into that. We're an extension of the neighbourhood people live in, not a standalone night-out spot.

That shapes the food a little: familiar and comforting first, done properly underneath.

The program

Two menus, one kitchen. The daytime side is sandwiches, toasts, and a few grab-and-go items that the baristas finish and hand off.The evening side is a smaller menu of elevated snacks, hot and cold, that runs from open of bar service through the night.

What the job actually looks like

You'd run the kitchen on your own for most of your shift. That means prep, cooking, plating, cleaning, and closing the space down properly for whoever opens next. Most shifts are 4pm to 10pm, with the optional daytime shifts too.Working alone is a real part of this job.

It's independent, it's on you, and the trade-off is that you're a bigger part of a smaller team. What you make and how you set the day up matters visibly, which isn't always the case in a bigger kitchen.We're hiring for either one full-time cook or two part-time cooks — depending on who we find, either works.

Real kitchen experience and care about the food, care about the space,



and a head for pacing so evening service doesn't fall behind when the room fills up.

A bit about pay

$19.25 an hour, plus a half-point share of tips. For context, bartenders are on one point — cooks pull half of that. It adds up to a real number, and it's built into how the team is set up.

10 DEAN was created by Fitzrovia, one of Canada's largest residential developers, and you'd be joining the Fitzrovia team. Each of our spaces is built into a Fitzrovia building: beautiful spaces, and a neighbourhood around us from the day the doors open. Residents and locals end up sitting side by side, and they're all our guests.
