Cook – Early Learning Centre (L4491) Full-Time Continuing Position Commencing September 21, 2026

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Early Learning Centre is seeking a dedicated and organized Cook to join our team. You will play an essential role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the children in our centre.

Key responsibilities include

Plan and rotate four-week meal/snack menus in accordance with national nutrition guidelines and the cultural diversity of children.

Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks daily in a hygienic and timely manner.

Order or purchase food and kitchen supplies within the established budget, ensuring vouchers/invoices are accurate.

Receive and store deliveries while maintaining an organized and sanitary kitchen environment.

Monitor stock levels, rotate inventory, and ensure quality and safety of food products.

Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness per the Food Premises Act.

Communicate daily with Early Childhood Educators about children’s dietary needs, allergies, or schedule changes.

Welcome and support practicum students and contribute positively to the team workplace.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions (e.g.,



WHMIS, Food Handler’s), and professional development events.Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma required. Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a daycare or school setting, is considered an asset.

Must hold a valid Food Handling Certificate or be willing to obtain. WHMIS training is considered an asset.

Knowledge of basic nutrition, special dietary requirements, and food safety practices.

Ability to work independently, stay organized, and operate within a set budget.

Strong communication skills.

Employment requirements

Please note, the successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Certification in First Aid/CPR are required (or be willing to obtain).

Hold a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.

Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.
