River location is looking for an Environmental Monitoring Technician to support monitoring activities for the Near Surface Disposal Facility. Apply today!

What you will be doing!

- Escorting internal, external and public entities on site for various surveys, tours and walk-downs.
- Providing support to the Guardian Program as needed.
- Assisting in completing the Integrated Environmental Monitoring sampling schedules to ensure the collection of required water samples (both surface and groundwater) and biota.
- Aiding in the processing of water and biota samples in accordance with established Technical Procedures within specified timeframes.
- Analyzing and reporting on environmental samples for both radiological and non-radiological parameters.
- Supporting verification and reporting of results within the branch Laboratory Information Management System to meet supervisor and customer expectations.
- Assisting in maintaining Laboratory Quality Control (QC) for all analytical equipment used, including performance trending and the use of laboratory QC samples, as specified in the appropriate technical procedures. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position (e.g. Natural Resource Management, Environmental Biology, Chemistry) and normally has two to three years of pertinent technological experience OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has five to eight years of pertinent and progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.

- Experience

- Experience in a laboratory environment, which includes chemical preparations and analyses using established procedures.
- Experience in a field environment with familiarity with wildlife management best practices and data collection.
- Experience in forest management planning, wildlife habitat identification and management,



and stakeholder engagement is an asset.
- Experience with specialized radioanalytical equipment and techniques for environmental radiochemical applications is considered an asset.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, and Word.
- Proficiency in performing basic wet chemistry, including solution preparation and instrument calibration and use.
- Ability to complete routine chemical laboratory methods such as pH and conductivity measurements, elemental analyses, and the use of analytical balances, among others.
- Familiarity with Federal and Ontario environmental laws and regulations.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, Current Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- This position is part of the USW 1568 and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW 1568 Collective Agreement.
