Why This Role Exists The Lead Garage Door Technician role exists to deliver high-quality residential and commercial service and installations while providing an exceptional customer experience and acting as the Lead Technician for Canadoor’s Sudbury field team.
This is a senior technical and field leadership role for someone who can work independently, solve problems, confidently guide customers toward the right solutions, support other Technicians, and help maintain Canadoor’s standards in the Sudbury market.
As the Lead Technician in Sudbury, you’ll also act as an important connection between the Sudbury field team and Canadoor’s Field Supervisors, communicating issues, identifying concerns, and helping ensure problems are addressed quickly and effectively.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the Lead Technician for Canadoor’s Sudbury field team
- Independently complete residential and commercial garage door service, repairs, and installations
- Diagnose garage door, operator, and related equipment issues and determine appropriate solutions
- Install and service garage doors, openers, springs, cables, hardware, and accessories
- Work with commercial door systems and related equipment
- Provide customers with clear options and recommendations based on their needs
- Follow Canadoor’s 5-Star Service & Sales Process on every customer interaction
- Identify legitimate sales opportunities and confidently communicate the value of recommended solutions
- Meet established technical, customer service, sales, and performance KPIs
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and support to Sudbury Technicians and Apprentices when required
- Lead by example in workmanship, professionalism, safety, customer service, and accountability
- Liaise with Canadoor’s Field Supervisors regarding technical, operational, customer, safety, or team issues that require additional support or escalation
- Proactively communicate field concerns and help identify solutions before issues become larger problems
- Support Field Supervisors in maintaining consistent Canadoor standards across the Sudbury field team
- Complete work orders and track time and job information accurately using ServiceTitan
- Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and professional company vehicle
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch and the office throughout the day
- Follow all safety regulations,
company policies, and traffic laws
- Take ownership of each job from arrival through successful completion

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of garage door industry experience required
- Robust residential and/or commercial garage door service and installation experience
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair garage door systems
- Experience installing and servicing garage doors and operators
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, underground parking gates, sliding aluminum doors, commercial operators, or related systems is a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and support less-experienced team members
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate field issues to supervisors
- Strong customer service skills
- Comfortable recommending and selling solutions to customers
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools and working on ladders
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment

and take ownership of the customer experience from beginning to end. As the Lead Technician in Sudbury, you are a trusted field resource for the local team. You help other Technicians solve problems, lead by example, identify issues early, and maintain robust communication with Canadoor’s Field Supervisors when additional support, direction, or escalation is required. You consistently meet technical, customer service, sales, and performance KPIs while helping strengthen the overall performance, professionalism, and accountability of the Sudbury field team.

Compensation $93,600–$147,800 annually through hourly and performance pay. This role is designed to reward performance. In addition to hourly compensation, Technicians have the opportunity to increase their earnings through performance pay tied to results. There is a significant customer service, sales, and KPI component to this position. Technicians who combine strong technical performance with exceptional customer service, effective communication, leadership, and consistent achievement of performance expectations have the opportunity to earn toward the top of the compensation range.
