Role Overview
Treefrog is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Finance Manager to join our team on a full-time basis for a newly created position. This role sits at the financial core of our agency operations. While you will run the day-to-day financial operations, you will collaborate strategically with the Director of Finance. You will independently oversee all accounting operations, compliance, and reporting, ensuring our leadership team has the financial clarity needed to make informed decisions. The ideal candidate thrives in a small agency setting, is a self-starter who can manage all financial functions on their own, and brings deep expertise in agency-specific accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting
- Process and manage daily and weekly journal entries along with bank feed matching.
- Oversee all revenue tracking, generate accurate client invoices, and ensure billing alignment with project scopes
- Proactively manage Accounts Receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and maintain healthy collection cycles
- Handle Accounts Payable by tracking vendor invoices, scheduling payments, and managing vendor relationships
- Lead and execute the full month-end close process independently, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage payroll cycles and review, approve, and reconcile team expenses
- Track, manage, and report on weekly cash flow to ensure agency liquidity and operational stability
Tax
- Handle all source deductions and overall payroll accounting management
- Prepare, reconcile, and file quarterly HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) remittances
- Manage and remit Ontario Employer Health Tax (EHT) returns
- Prepare all necessary year-end documentation and partner with external accountants to facilitate annual corporate tax filings
Finance
- Generate detailed financial reports, providing leadership with clear analytics on agency profitability and health
- Leverage AI and automation tools to enhance financial reporting, analysis, and overall finance process efficiency
- Leverage our Project Management Software (Scoro) for accurate project financial tracking, time-tracking translation to cost,
and profitability reporting
- Partner with the executive and client service teams to forecast revenue, manage sales pipelines, and project future growth
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal budgets across different agency departments
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive work experience in finance and/or accounting functions
- Advanced proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and AI tools, leveraging technology to enhance financial analysis, reporting, and process efficiency
- Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience
- Proven hands-on experience as a Finance Manager (or similar senior accounting role) within a professional services company
- Previous experience working in a marketing, creative, or digital agency is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently run a full-cycle finance department for a small business
- Preference for a successful candidate will be located in Ontario
Tools & Platforms
- Extensive, hands-on experience managing books utilizing QuickBooks Online
- Experience working with Scoro or other project management software
- Experience utilizing online Payroll platforms; Rippling experience preferred but not required
What We Offer You
- Remote-first work with quarterly in-person attendance at company "State of the Union" held in the GTA region
- Working hours 9-5 pm EST, Monday to Friday
- Salary Range - $80,000-$100,000

Reporting & Team Structure
Reports to: Director, Finance
Interview Structure
Stage 1: Initial Screen (30 mins) – A quick virtual chat with HR to align on your experience, location, and salary expectations.
Stage 2: Technical Interview (60 mins) – Meet the Director of Finance and dive into your accounting expertise, finance management, AI software, and agency finance workflows.
Stage 3: Second Interview (60 mins) – Meet with additional members of the executive team and discuss critical thinking around a scenario question that will be provided in advance.
