The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) represents 54 unions and one million workers and is Canada's largest provincial labour federation.
The OFL is seeking a Financial Coordinator for a full time, fixed-term contract from October 8, 2026 to September 13, 2027, providing leave coverage.
Reporting to the President of the Ontario Federation of Labour (Chief Executive Officer (CEO)), with day-to-day financial direction and oversight delegated to the Secretary-Treasurer (Chief Financial Officer (CFO)), the Financial Coordinator will support the effective day-to-day administration of the OFL's financial operations.
1. CORE QUALIFICATIONS
· A college diploma or university degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; · Practical accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations;
· Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software;
· Experience supporting payroll, statutory remittances and payroll reporting;
· Strong Microsoft Excel and business math skills;
· Excellent accuracy and attention to detail;
· Robust organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
· Sound judgment and strict confidentiality when handling financial information;
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
· Strong written and verbal communication skills;
· Demonstrated commitment to social justice and racial equity;
· Labour, non-profit or mission-driven organization experience is an asset; and
· Budgeting experience and comfort working within defined budget parameters are assets.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Financial Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the OFL's day-to-day accounting and financial administration,
including: · Maintain accurate and complete financial records and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of financial information;
· Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including coding and entering invoices, processing payments, maintaining vendor records and reconciling accounts;
· Prepare accounts payable aging information as required and ensure appropriate reconciliation between subsidiary records and the general ledger;
· Oversee accounts receivable, working with administrative staff to ensure income is appropriately processed and invoices are issued as required;
· Process and maintain records related to OFL income, including affiliate and per capita remittances, as applicable;
· Manage banking transactions and ensure the accurate recording of financial activity;
· Complete monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile financial statements and balance sheet accounts;
· Prepare and record journal entries and maintain appropriate supporting documentation;
· Maintain schedules relating to prepaid expenses, fixed assets and other financial accounts as required;
· Support the OFL's payroll processes, including payroll administration, source deductions, statutory remittances, pension deductions and payroll reporting;
· Support year-end payroll reporting and reconciliations, including required government and statutory reporting;
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes;
· Support the annual audit,
including preparing schedules, records and documentation and working with the auditors to respond to information requirements;
· Support preparation of the OFL's annual operating budget and Convention budget;
· Prepare and provide financial data required for monthly, quarterly and other financial reporting;
· Support budget-to-actual reporting and identify significant discrepancies or items requiring follow-up;
· Provide accurate financial information to support leadership decision-making, recognizing that financial direction, forecasting decisions and formal presentations remain the responsibility of OFL leadership;
· Liaise with vendors, pension providers and other financial stakeholders as required;
· Support strong financial controls, documentation and accountability practices; and
· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Collective Agreement: Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the applicable OFL/COPE Local 343 Collective Agreement.
