Reporting to the Senior Manager, Government Relations & Advocacy, the Government Relations & Advocacy Coordinator will support the development and execution of the organization's government relations and advocacy priorities. The successful candidate will contribute to stakeholder engagement, government outreach, advocacy initiatives, policy research and planning key events that advance the interests of Ontario REALTORS®.
This role will play an important part in supporting government relations activities, monitoring Queen’s Park and public policy developments, conducting Issues Management, preparing advocacy materials, and coordinating high-profile events such as REALTOR® Advocacy Day, meetings with industry stakeholders and Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), and political affairs conferences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supporting the planning and execution of government relations and advocacy initiatives aligned with OREA’s priorities.
· Monitoring provincial, legislative, regulatory, municipal, and public policy developments affecting REALTORS® and the housing sector.
· Researching emerging issues, government priorities, stakeholder positions, and legislative developments to support advocacy efforts.
· Assisting with the preparation of briefing notes policy summaries, presentations, speaking points, correspondence,
and advocacy materials.
· Coordinating stakeholder engagement activities, including outreach to government officials, local real estate boards, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
· Supporting the organization and execution of key advocacy events, including REALTOR® Advocacy Day, political affairs conferences, receptions, and government meetings.
· Assisting in the coordination of meetings with elected officials, government staff, and industry stakeholders, including preparing meeting materials and tracking follow-up activities.
· Supporting the development of advocacy communications, newsletters, member updates, and government relations content.
· Supporting Senior Leadership, Member Boards and Directors on government relations initiatives, events, meetings and projects
· Attending meetings, conferences, and industry events on behalf of the Government Relations team, as required.
· Tracking advocacy activities, action items, and project milestones to support the successful delivery of government relations initiatives.
· Collaborating with internal departments and external partners to advance strategic advocacy objectives.
· Providing administrative and logistical support for committees, working groups, and government relations initiatives as required.
· Additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Government Relations & Advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
· Post-secondary education in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration, Government Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· One to two years of experience in government relations,
public affairs, stakeholder relations, event coordination, project coordination, administration, or a related field.
· Experience supporting government relations, advocacy, public policy, or stakeholder engagement initiatives is considered an asset.
· Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
· Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Experience coordinating meetings, events, and stakeholder engagement activities.
· Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of Ontario's government, legislative processes, and public policy environment is considered an asset.
· Experience working in a membership-based organization, association, or not-for-profit environment is considered an asset.
