Cambridge Pro Fab Inc. is looking for an experienced Lift Truck Operator / Material Handler to join our production team.
This is not a typical warehouse forklift position. We are looking for an experienced operator who is comfortable working in a heavy steel fabrication environment and safely handling large, long, wide and irregular steel components using 5–10 ton capacity lift trucks.
The Lift Truck Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, moving, locating, relocating, stacking and handling material throughout the facility.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate a lift truck to safely move material throughout the facility
- Load and unload trucks in the shipping and receiving area
- Move and stack material in designated areas
- Safely balance, transport and stack long,
wide and asymmetrical steel structures, including I-beams, large weldments and heavy plate
- Assist with pallet building
- Stack empty pallets
- Band material for storage or shipment
- Maintain a clean and organized yard and work area
- Perform and document daily safety checks on assigned equipment
- Red-tag equipment and immediately report any equipment concerns to your supervisor
- Use various hand tools as required
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
- Follow all company safety rules, policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience as a Material Handler and Heavy Lift Truck Operator
- Experience operating 5–10 ton capacity lift trucks
- Valid lift truck training certification
- Air brake certification/endorsement
- Valid driver’s licence
- Strong knowledge of the steel industry
- Experience safely balancing, transporting and stacking large, heavy and irregular steel components
- Ability to distinguish between materials including aluminum, steel and stainless steel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused on the task at hand
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good communication skills
- Strong safety awareness
- Knowledge of lift trucks, including their operation, limitations and general maintenance
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities
Hours of Work Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Compensation
$28.00–$32.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
This position is best suited to someone with significant experience in a heavy manufacturing, steel fabrication or industrial material-handling environment.
The material handled in this role can be considerably larger, heavier and more complex than standard palletized warehouse material. Candidates should be confident handling oversized steel components while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
