Position Description

CGI is seeking an experienced IBM i / RPG Developer to join our growing team and support the development, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise applications. In this role, you will work with legacy IBM i systems while contributing to application enhancements, system integrations, testing, technical documentation, and ongoing production support. You will also play an important role in modernization initiatives while ensuring the stability and reliability of existing business-critical applications.

Working closely with project managers, business analysts, solution architects, QA specialists, and business stakeholders, you will contribute to project planning, effort estimation, technical design, and successful solution delivery.

This is a full-time contract opportunity for an initial six-month term, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent full-time position based on business needs and performance. Moncton, NB is the preferred work location; however, remote candidates within Canada will also be considered.

Your future duties and responsibilities

- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance IBM i / RPG applications supporting enterprise business solutions.
- Develop application enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, and resolve software defects.
- Work with DB2 databases, including Physical Files, Logical Files, and RPG SQL.
- Support system integrations, application testing, technical documentation, and production implementations.
- Participate in application modernization initiatives while maintaining legacy IBM i applications.
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders to deliver project milestones.
- Participate in effort estimation, technical planning, code reviews, release activities, and production implementations.
- Identify technical dependencies, risks, and implementation considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to Agile/Scrum or Waterfall software delivery while ensuring high-quality solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance application reliability,



maintainability, and performance.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on IBM i / RPG development experience.
- Strong experience with RPG III and working knowledge of RPG IV/RPGLE.
- Strong experience working with DB2, including Physical Files, Logical Files, and RPG SQL.
- Experience with application development, enhancements, debugging, system integrations, testing, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting legacy application modernization initiatives.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall software delivery environments.
- Experience participating in effort estimation, code reviews, release activities, and production implementations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, business analysts, architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Assets The following qualifications would be considered assets:
- Experience supporting financial services or other enterprise applications.
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or deployment automation.
- Experience with modern API or integration technologies.
- Experience contributing to legacy modernization or digital transformation initiatives.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications.



Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$105,000 CAD. This role is an existing vacancy.
