About Us The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan (EFSK) supports women and gender-diverse people who are criminalized or at risk of criminalization. Through advocacy, cultural teachings, housing, and wraparound services, we work to remove systemic barriers and support healing, reintegration, and community connection.

Overview The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and values-driven Lawyer to join our Women’s Legal Clinic (WLC) as we expand our services into Saskatoon.

The Women’s Legal Clinic is a trauma-informed, gender-responsive legal clinic working to improve access to justice for women and gender-diverse people experiencing gender-based violence, family breakdown, criminalization, poverty, and other systemic barriers.

This position offers the opportunity to build a meaningful legal practice with autonomy, flexibility, and direct community impact. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and representation while working collaboratively with a supportive team to deliver practical, client-centred legal services.

Responsibilities

Legal Services and Representation

- Provide trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally safer legal services
- Provide legal advice, limited-scope representation, and unbundled services in family, criminal, immigration, child protection, and related matters
- Assess legal needs, explain options, and develop practical legal strategies
- Prepare legal documents and appear at court, mediations, tribunals, and other proceedings as required

Client and Team Support

- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client files
- Collaborate with WLC staff, Advocates, students, volunteers, and external service providers
- Support intake, referrals, case planning, and coordinated client support




- Provide legal information and case consultation to team members within the scope of the role

Community Engagement and Advocacy

- Build relationships with legal, justice, Indigenous, and community partners
- Deliver community legal education, workshops, and training as needed
- Contribute to advocacy, policy, and law reform addressing systemic barriers to justice

Qualifications

- LLB/JD and active membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Law Society of Saskatchewan
- Minimum 2 years of experience in family, criminal, or immigration law
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice
- Understanding of the intersections between gender-based violence and criminalization
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to decolonization, Indigenous legal principles, and equitable access to justice

Assets

- Experience supporting women and gender-diverse people affected by incarceration, criminalization, or state systems
- Experience in community or non-profit legal settings
- Training in mediation, restorative justice, or cultural safety
