Your Opportunity

The MDRD Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for Medical Device Reprocessing services within the Central Corridor, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality reprocessing that supports patient care and surgical services.

Description

Key Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and develop MDRD staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment. Oversee daily MDRD operations, including decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution. Ensure compliance with AHS policies, CSA standards, infection prevention and control requirements, and regulatory standards.

Monitor quality, safety, productivity, and service performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Manage staffing, scheduling, budgets, equipment, supplies, and other departmental resources. Identify operational risks and implement effective solutions to improve workflow, efficiency, and patient safety.

Build strong partnerships with Operating Room, Surgical Services, Infection Prevention and Control, Quality, Supply Chain, physicians, and other stakeholders. Lead change initiatives, promote innovation, and support standardization and best practices. Ensure staff competency, education, and ongoing professional development.

Required Qualifications





Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline, management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Recognized education/training in Medical Device Reprocessing and/or substantial experience within an MDRD environment. Recognized training in Infection Prevention and Control as it relates to Medical Device Reprocessing.

Progressive leadership and management experience within a healthcare environment. Demonstrated experience managing human, financial, and physical resources. Demonstrated knowledge of medical device reprocessing, sterilization principles, infection prevention, quality systems, and applicable standards.

Demonstrated ability to manage change and develop innovative solutions to complex operational issues. Robust communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, develop, and motivate staff.

Additional Required Qualifications

Certification in Medical Device Reprocessing through CSA or HSPA.

Certification or formal education in Infection Prevention and Control. Previous management experience in an acute-care MDRD or surgical environment.

Experience with instrument tracking and inventory management systems.

Experience with quality improvement methodologies and healthcare performance metrics.

Experience working within a unionized healthcare environment.

Experience leading large-scale change, technology implementation, standardization, or process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in management in a Medical Device Reprocessing environment or related field. Experience with financial monitoring and control; supply management; workload delegation; quality control and staffing.
