Company Description Applaud – People in Public Service is a non-profit membership organization serving individuals working in the Public Sector and Broader Public Sector across Ontario. The organization is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating people who deliver public services in their communities and across the province. Members connect with peers through online platforms and events, benefit from educational programming and regular e-communications, and enjoy value-added discounts from trusted affiliate partners.

Applaud provides recognition through celebration events, learning and networking opportunities, and a variety of member services designed to support and honor public service professionals.

Role Description The Manager, Programs and Recognition is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with a combination of in office work and flexibility to work from home. This role oversees the planning, development, and delivery of member recognition programs, including celebration events, awards initiatives, and other recognition activities. The manager designs and coordinates educational programming and networking opportunities that support member engagement and professional development.

Day-to-day responsibilities include managing program timelines and budgets, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships with affiliate partners, and ensuring high-quality communications and e-communications related to programs and recognition. The role also involves monitoring program performance, collecting feedback, and recommending improvements that align with Applaud’s mission to celebrate and support people in public service.

Qualifications

- Program and event management skills,



including experience planning, coordinating, and evaluating member-focused programs and recognition initiatives.
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities, with experience collaborating across teams and working with partners, sponsors, and community organizations.
- Strong communication and writing skills, including the ability to develop clear member communications, e-communications, and promotional materials.
- Organizational and project management skills, with proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage budgets and timelines, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in member services, nonprofit environments, or associations, ideally within public sector or broader public sector communities.
- Proficiency with digital tools and platforms used for membership management, communications, and online events (e.g., CRM systems, email marketing tools, virtual event platforms).
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful recognition practices, with sensitivity to diverse communities and work environments.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as public administration, nonprofit management, communications, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
