Job Overview The Plastic Injection Molding Mold Maker is responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of injection molds and related tooling used in plastic manufacturing operations.

The Mold Maker works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure mold is maintained to a high standard and are available for production with minimal downtime. The position requires robust mechanical skills, precision machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot mold-related problems.

Duties

- Mold Making & Repair
- Build, assemble, modify, and repair plastic injection molds and tooling.

Machining & Tooling

- Operate conventional and CNC machining equipment as required.
- Perform milling, turning, drilling, grinding, EDM, and other precision machining operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, mold drawings, specifications, and CAD data.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, venires, height gauges, indicators, and gauges.
- Maintain required dimensional accuracy and tolerances.

Troubleshooting

- Diagnose mold-related production problems such as:
- Flash, Short shots, Parting-line issues
- Ejection problems, Cooling problems, Wear or damage, Alignment issues
- Gate and runner problems
- Respond to urgent mold breakdowns and production downtime when required.

Preventive Maintenance

- Perform scheduled mold inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of mold repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.




- Identify potential failures and recommend corrective action before breakdowns occur.
- Maintain molds in a clean, organized, and production-ready condition.
- Knowledge & Skill

 Precision machining and fitting skills.  Excellent problem-solving ability.

 Ability to troubleshoot mold and tooling issues.

 Strong attention to detail.

 Ability to work from drawings and specifications.

 Good organizational and time-management skills.

 Ability to prioritize urgent production requirements.

Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance personnel

.Preferred:

- Experience in a plastic injection molding manufacturing environment.
- CNC machining experience.
- EDM experience.
- Experience with mold polishing and fitting.
- Experience using CAD/CAM software.
- Tool & Die Maker or Mold Maker apprenticeship/journeyperson certification
