Experienced Plaintiff-side Personal Injury Lawyer
Our client, an established, well-reputed and growing Ontario plaintiff-side personal injury firm, is seeking an experienced and like-minded plaintiff-side litigator who enjoys advancing difficult cases and achieving meaningful results for injured clients. The firm is looking for a lawyer comfortable managing a substantial caseload without a “settle everything” approach.
The Role The firm’s practice is approximately 60–70% MVA litigation and 20–30% occupiers’ liability/slip-and-fall, with the balance including LTD, sexual assault injury and other plaintiff-side personal injury matters.
You will manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 files, supported by experienced law clerks, paralegals and legal assistants. Responsibilities include:
- Developing litigation strategy and assessing liability and damages;
- Conducting discoveries, motions, mediations and pre-trials;
- Working with medical, vocational and other experts;
- Negotiating settlements; and
- Preparing and advancing appropriate cases through trial.
The firm emphasizes proactive litigation and strong file progression, supported by established technology, systems and workflows that allow lawyers to focus on advocacy, strategy and results.
The Ideal Candidate
You will bring
- 5+ years of dedicated plaintiff personal injury litigation experience;
- Experience independently managing a significant litigation portfolio;
- Strong discovery, mediation, negotiation and advocacy skills;
- Experience taking difficult files toward trial, with actual trial experience considered a significant asset;
- A practical understanding of case valuation, damages and litigation strategy;
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment; and
- A proactive approach to moving cases forward.
The firm is particularly interested in lawyers who are comfortable with both volume and complexity — lawyers who can efficiently manage a substantial portfolio without sacrificing litigation quality. Work Environment The firm operates on a highly flexible model and is open to solid candidates anywhere in Ontario.
Lawyers work remotely or on a hybrid basis and are supported by established technology, systems and administrative resources. The culture emphasizes autonomy, accountability, collaboration and measurable results without requiring lawyers to attend an office simply for the sake of being present.
Compensation and Benefits The firm offers:
- Compensation consisting of a competitive base salary plus incentive compensation tied to gross billings and performance;
- Remote/hybrid flexibility;
- Pension matching;
- Health and dental benefits; and
- Disability insurance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established plaintiff personal injury lawyer who wants greater autonomy, strong support and a meaningful financial upside while continuing to handle sophisticated litigation.
