Lennox Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team on a part-time basis.
We are a busy general-practice hospital looking for a confident, dependable technician who enjoys hands-on patient care, works well as part of a team and is comfortable taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role
As an RVT, you'll play an important role in patient care and the day-to-day flow of the hospital. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting veterinarians with appointments, treatments and procedures
- Patient restraint and handling
- Blood collection and IV catheter placement
- Running in-house laboratory testing and preparing outside laboratory samples
- Preparing and administering medications as directed
- Monitoring hospitalized patients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery
- Dental procedures, including dental radiography
- Taking diagnostic radiographs
- Maintaining accurate medical records
- Client education and discharge instructions
- Pharmacy and prescription preparation
- Maintaining treatment, surgical and laboratory areas
- Supporting the veterinary assistants and reception team when needed
Who We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate is
- A Registered Veterinary Technician in good standing
- Experienced in small-animal general practice
- Confident with anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- Comfortable with venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Experienced with dental procedures and dental radiography
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats with a variety of temperaments
- Able to prioritize and work independently when needed
- Organized, effective and attentive to detail
- Compassionate with both patients and their owners
- A strong communicator and team player
- Comfortable working in a busy clinical environment
Previous RVT experience is preferred. Experience with AVImark is an asset.
