Job Description
Thrift Store Assistant Manager
Position Overview
To assist with the day to day management of the Super Thrift store: organization, receiving product by donation, pricing items for retail, structuring of sales floor and managing staff. Thrift operations play a crucial role in funding ongoing addiction programs by generating revenue that directly supports these initiatives, ensuring their sustainability and reach. Additionally, thrift stores provide valuable work experience to students in recovery, offering a structured, supportive environment where they can develop essential skills, build confidence, and regain a sense of purpose as part of their rehabilitation journey. This dual impact strengthens both the financial foundation of the programs and the personal growth of participants, fostering long-term success.
Primary Responsibilities
Assisting with the organization, planning, development, implementation, and administration of the thrift store, ensuring it runs with excellence and meets budget requirements.
Providing leadership and supervision to staff, volunteers, and ATC students.
Sorting, pricing, marking, creating and displaying products.
Ensuring the store is clean and organized.
Assisting the manager to ensure the store meets all city,
provincial, federal and ATC accreditation requirements for retail and safety.
Assisting with the planning, developing, implementing and administering the store retail sales segment.
Ensuring storage of donations is neat and orderly.
Assisting with the request of items needed in conjunction with the store retail sales operation.
Assisting with the social media page of the Super Thrift store.
Maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
Educating staff.
Being consistent in ensuring safety practices are followed.
Providing leadership and support to the Health & Safety Committee.
Qualifications
Experience in thrift store management or other relevant retail experience.
Enthusiastic about the thrift store industry.
Maintain excellent working relationships with all departments.
Solid organization and communication skills.
Ability to mentor and advise staff and students as necessary.
Discretion and patience working alongside at-risk individuals.
Conflict resolution experience or training an asset.
A basic working knowledge of email and web-based programs.
Valid driver’s license and own transportation.
