Senior Automotive Technician / Lead Hand

$50-$60/hour for hours worked - not flat rate

RS Auto Clinic is hiring one experienced, hands-on lead technician to guide two to three technicians and oversee repairs from initial diagnosis through final verification.

This is an opportunity to put your technical judgment and leadership to work in a family-owned independent shop, with direct communication with ownership and the service advisor.

$50-$60/hour - with clear expectations The starting point for a qualified candidate is $50/hour. Your agreed rate will reflect your diagnostic ability, repair efficiency and ability to take on the leadership responsibilities.

We are willing to pay $60/hour for someone who can consistently deliver the complete role: diagnose accurately, perform quality repairs, organize workshop priorities and lead the team effectively.

16-20+ years of relevant experience is an asset. Years in the trade support your application;

demonstrated ability and performance determine your rate.

You are paid for hours worked, including diagnosis, repairs, job coordination, technical guidance and quality checks.

We confirm the customer's concern, identify the root cause, complete the necessary authorized repair and retest to verify the issue is resolved.

We want someone who can explain what failed, how they confirmed it and what is needed to repair it





- and help other technicians apply that same approach.

Your role

You'll remain productive on the tools while guiding two to three other technicians. Your responsibilities include:

- Performing electrical, drivability and mechanical diagnosis, repairs and maintenance.
- Reviewing findings and helping technicians resolve difficult jobs.
- Coordinating priorities with the service advisor, considering parts readiness, technician capability

and completion times.
- Communicating required repairs clearly so customer authorization can be obtained.
- Monitoring progress, addressing technical problems and flagging delays early.
- Checking workmanship and ensuring appropriate final testing, road testing and documentation.

Helping the team complete accurate, efficient repairs is part of your job - not an unpaid extra.

Experience and attitude

- Valid Ontario 310S and/or 310T licence.
- At least 10 years of experience working as a licensed automotive and/or truck technician.
- Strong diagnostic skills using scan tools, wiring diagrams and technical service information.
- The ability to work independently and oversee repairs from beginning to end.
- The judgment and communication skills to guide other technicians.

share knowledge, listen to input and take responsibility for your work.

Previous lead-hand or foreman experience is an asset. If you already guide other technicians without holding the title, we want to hear about it.

The workshop and employment package

We service domestic, Asian and European vehicles, light trucks, commercial vehicles and fleets. The workload combines diagnostics with general repairs and maintenance.

Equipment includes professional diagnostic tools, computerized wheel alignment and Hunter Road

Force Elite wheel balancing.
