Join IWK Health as a Social Worker specializing in emergency care for children and youth in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This full-time role involves providing family-centered social work services in a agile emergency department.
As a critical member of the interdisciplinary team, you will deliver therapeutic interventions, psychosocial assessments, and crisis interventions to patients and families in distress. You will collaborate with health and government services while conducting intake duties for the Children's Health Program. This position offers an opportunity to mentor MSW students and contribute to program evaluations and research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide family-centered care in the emergency department
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and brief therapies
• Collaborate with diverse health and government services
• Supervise clinical MSW student placements
• Facilitate resource acquisition and advocacy efforts
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Social Work is essential
• Current NS College of Social Workers license required
• Two years clinical experience as a Master's prepared Social Worker
• Experience in trauma-informed care and grief support
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
