Senior Accountant – Corporate Accounting

Metro Vancouver | In Office

This is an opportunity to join one of Western Canada’s most established and recognizable privately owned real estate organizations at an exciting point in its growth.

Our client is a multi-decade landowner, developer and investor with deep roots in British Columbia, a significant and sophisticated portfolio, and growing interests beyond the local market. Locally owned and entrepreneurial at its core, the company combines the stability of a long-established real estate platform with genuine growth ambitions and an increasingly complex investment and corporate structure.

They are looking for a CPA-designated Senior Accountant to join their Corporate Accounting team.

This is not simply a month-end accounting role. You will take ownership of assigned entities, work across complex corporate structures, prepare consolidated financial reporting, analyze intercompany activity and investments, and work closely with stakeholders throughout the organization.

For a strong Senior Accountant looking to build deeper technical expertise while gaining exposure to a sophisticated real estate and investment platform, there is a lot here to work with.

The Opportunity The Senior Accountant will be responsible for corporate accounting and reporting across a diverse group of entities.

You will have meaningful ownership over your work while contributing to consolidated financial statements, management reporting, investment analysis, budgeting and forecasting.

The environment is fast-paced and expects people to be able to learn quickly, investigate issues, source information and take ownership of finding the answer rather than simply waiting for direction.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation from public practice combined with meaningful industry experience, particularly within a complex multi-entity or consolidation environment.

- Support management reporting, dashboards and partnership-level analysis including NAV, cash flow and capital activity

- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and overhead analysis

You Will Have The Opportunity To

- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting

- Help streamline existing workflows

- Support accounting system implementations and upgrades

- Improve reporting tools and financial information

- Contribute to training and development within the accounting team

- Participate in special projects across the broader organization

What We’re Looking For

You Will Ideally Bring

- CPA designation required

- 4 years of progressive accounting experience
- A combination of public practice and industry experience, with the greater portion ideally gained in industry

- Strong experience preparing financial statements and consolidated reporting

- Experience working within complex or multi-entity corporate structures

- Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles

- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets

- Experience with financial analysis, management reporting and audit preparation

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to independently research issues and determine appropriate solutions
- A demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience within real estate, development, construction, investments or another asset-intensive industry would be particularly valuable.

Exposure to ASPE, REALpac, Yardi, CaseWare, Power BI, automation or AI-enabled accounting tools would also be considered an asset.

The Working Environment

This is an in-office position five days per week.

For someone who enjoys being around their team, it is an unusually strong office environment. The company operates from a stunning, modern and highly transit-accessible workplace designed around collaboration, with excellent amenities and plenty of employee perks.

The culture is professional but entrepreneurial,

and employees benefit from working closely with experienced people across accounting, finance, development, investment and operations.

There is significant value in being physically connected to the broader business here — this is an organization where accounting has exposure to the people actually making investment and development decisions.

Why Consider It?

There Are Not Many Opportunities To Combine

- A well-established, locally owned company

- Decades of successful real estate ownership and development
- A sophisticated and growing corporate structure

- International interests and ambitions

- Significant long-term financial stability

- Strong technical accounting exposure
- A highly regarded working environment

- Genuine opportunities to develop within the organization

The organization also offers a performance-based bonus program, comprehensive health benefits, RRSP matching, generous learning and development support, vacation, paid volunteer time and additional employee programs.

For a CPA who wants to move beyond routine accounting and build their career inside a sophisticated, growth-oriented real estate organization, this is a compelling opportunity.
