Construction Labourer

Primary area: Surrey, BC

Work location: On-site at construction projects throughout Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, and other Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley locations.

Chase Contracting Ltd. is a growing concrete-forming contractor serving commercial and industrial projects throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. Our work includes foundations, structural walls, slabs, tilt-up panels, and multi-level parkades. We are looking for someone who does not simply need a temporary job, but genuinely wants to enter the construction industry and grow into a skilled Carpenter.

The Construction Labourer supports the field team with concrete forming, material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and general construction activities. You will work under the direction of Foremen, Site Supervisors, and experienced Carpenters while learning practical jobsite skills.

Previous construction experience is not required. What matters most is that you are dependable, physically capable, and eager to learn. High-performing employees may be considered for progression into a carpentry apprenticeship, based on demonstrated skills, performance, business needs, and applicable apprenticeship requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Carpenters with building, installing, bracing, and stripping formwork

Load, unload, move, organize, and stage construction materials

Assist with measuring, marking, cutting, drilling, fastening, and assembly once trained





Prepare work areas before production begins

Keep work areas, material-storage areas, and the general jobsite clean

Remove nails, fasteners, concrete buildup, and debris from used formwork

Clean and organize lumber and forming components for reuse

Retrieve and return tools promptly to keep the crew productive

Inspect cords, hoses, ladders, tools, and equipment before use

Report damaged equipment, missing materials, and unsafe conditions

Wear all required personal protective equipment

Participate in safety orientations and toolbox talks

Ask for the next priority when assigned work is complete

Qualifications

No previous construction experience is required

A genuine desire to build a career in construction and eventually enter a carpentry apprenticeship

Dependable, punctual, hardworking, and willing to take direction

Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with a close‑knot crew

Ability to perform the essential physical functions of construction labour, including lifting and carrying materials, frequent standing and walking, bending, climbing, and working outdoors, with or without reasonable accommodation.





Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions

Willingness to learn the safe use of hand and power tools

Strong awareness of safety and jobsite cleanliness

Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites are required because some project locations may not be accessible by public transit.

Pay and Benefits

Full‑time, permanent position, averaging 40 hours per week

Pay: CA$20.00-$25.00 per hour, based on relevant experience
