About the role As a Saab First Officer, you’ll operate regional routes throughout British Columbia with a team that prioritizes safety, professionalism, and work-life balance. Expect a mix of day and overnight pairings, with the ability to influence your schedule and pursue upgrades as you build experience.
Key duties Serve as a permanent full-time Saab First Officer on Vancouver-based operations.
Operate multi-crew, multi-engine IFR flights across Pacific Coastal Airlines' BC network.
Work varying shifts with travel away from home, including overnight assignments.
Uphold company SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory compliance at all times.
Qualifications Minimum total time: 500 hours.
Hold either a CPL with IATRA or an ATPL (IATRA completed within the preceding 18 months).
Current Multi-Engine IFR and valid Category 1 Medical.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
Eligible to travel to and from the United States without restrictions.
Canadian citizen, Canadian permanent resident, or holder of a valid Canadian work permit.
Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Training bond applies as per the Crew Practices Manual.
Preferred experience:
Saab type rating.
Multi-crew, multi-engine, IFR, or turbine time in 600/702/703/704/705 or military operations.
Flight Instructors considered with at least 1,000 hours total time.
Compensation and perks Base rate: $55.00 per credit hour.
Minimum annual base salary: $52,800.
Credits: At least 80 flying credits per month; overtime opportunities available.
Per diem: $5.10 per duty hour.
Insurance: Extended health and dental premiums paid 100% by the company; 50% of disability, life, and AD&D; premiums paid by the company; coverage effective immediately upon employment.
Additional coverage: Paramedical care, emergency out-of-country medical, vision care, short- and long-term disability, optional critical-illness insurance, and a peer-to-peer rewards program.
Travel: Jump-seat privileges plus employee and family travel with numerous partner airlines; commuting within the airline’s network subject to hiring-process approval.
Scheduling perks: Maximum 18 duty periods per monthly schedule (fewer with higher-credit duties), Wild Card Days, banked statutory holidays (up to three additional weeks paid time off), annual vacation, peer shift trading, and guaranteed days off.
Career milestone: Eligible First Officers who upgrade may receive a one-time $25,000 retention bonus after completing two years as a Captain.
How to stand out Highlight recent IATRA completion (within 18 months) or current ATPL.
Showcase multi-crew, multi-engine IFR, turbine, or military experience and any Saab or other relevant type ratings.
Note eligibility for RAIC, US entry, and Canadian work authorization.
