TheCommercial Lines Underwriter works within established underwriting authorityand service standards to evaluate, select, and manage commercial insurancerisks. The successful candidate will contribute to the profitability, growth,and retention of the commercial portfolio by developing strong relationshipswith brokers and providing high-quality underwriting service.
Key Responsibilities Underwriteand manage commercial new business, renewals, and policy changes withinassigned authority levels.
Assess andselect risks while ensuring profitability and adherence to company underwritingguidelines.
Develop andmaintain strong working relationships with assigned brokers.
Contributeto the successful execution of broker and territory business plans aligned withregional growth, retention, profitability, and service objectives.
Visitbrokers to promote the company's commercial insurance products and strengthenbusiness relationships.
Identifyopportunities for new commercial business and regional programs.
Monitormarket trends, pricing, legal developments, and industry conditions relevant tocommercial underwriting.
Negotiateterms and conditions to maintain a profitable and sustainable book of business.
Respond tobroker inquiries and provide effective solutions to underwriting issues.
Providesupport, guidance, and knowledge sharing to team members, as appropriate.
Performother related duties as required.
Experience & Qualifications Minimum of2 years of commercial underwriting experience
Experienceevaluating and managing commercial insurance risks.
Understandingof commercial underwriting principles and practices.
Ability toanalyze information and make sound underwriting decisions.
Experienceworking with insurance brokers or in a broker-facing environment is consideredan asset.
Ability tounderwrite and manage commercial accounts of varying size and complexity.
Stronganalytical and account assessment skills.
Knowledgeof broker and insurer relationships.
Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.
Strongcustomer service orientation and relationship-building abilities.
Effectivenegotiation and influencing skills.
Strongorganizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
Knowledgeof the commercial insurance marketplace and competitive workplace.
Ability towork independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
