The Opportunity:
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is responsible for the administration of Saskatchewan's consumption tax programs including Provincial Sales Tax, Liquor Consumption Tax, Fuel Tax, Tobacco Tax, and Vapour Products Tax.

As a member of a professional team of Compliance Officers you will provide exceptional service to tax clients and stakeholders by treating them in a fair, consistent, professional and timely manner.

You will use your excellent interpretation and communication skills to provide information to clients on tax acts administered by the Ministry of Finance to ensure compliance with provincial legislation. Through verbal and written channels, you will interpret and clearly explain legislative tax requirements, policies and procedures to clients at the tier-two level.

Using your strong presentation and public speaking skills, you will provide educational sessions to clients through in office presentations or remote webinars.

You will perform limited scope audits by reviewing tax client records to determine tax assessments and clearly explain your findings to tax clients both verbally and in writing. You will be required to complete day trips and overnight travel within Saskatchewan away from headquarters. Extended overnight travel may be required at times.

You will contact newly registered businesses to explain their tax obligations to them.



You will conduct research to engage with unregistered businesses and inform them of their tax obligations. You will also be responsible for researching tax issues, preparing reports and recommendations for updates to tax information resources, legislation and regulations.

To succeed in this position, you will be detail oriented, analytical, and an individual that thrives on applying initiative.You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and public speaking abilities. You will be adaptable to changing priorities as new compliance priorities emerge. You will understand business records and accounting and auditing principles and will be able to interpret, apply and effectively communicate legislation and policy.

The knowledge and abilities required would typically be obtained through the completion of an accounting diploma or business degree specializing in accounting, or introductory and intermediate accounting classes supplemented with auditing experience in a taxation environment.

Prospective candidates with required education outside of Canada are strongly encouraged to obtain either an ICAS Assessment Report from www.icascanada.ca or a Credential Evaluation and Authentication Report from www.wes.org, including it with your application. This will aid in ensuring that your qualifications are appropriately evaluated and considered in the application process.
