Position Summary
The incumbent serves as the primary operational support to the Plant Manager. They coordinate production activities, coordinate workforce schedules, ensure that documentation required for food-related manufacturing activities remains compliant and up to date, and support environmental, health and safety programs.
The incumbent plays a key liaison role between Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Administration to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Scheduling and Labor Coordination
Plan and coordinate daily production schedules.
Monitor priorities and production deadlines.
Collaborate with supervisor to optimize operational coverage.
Ensure the optimal use of labor and equipment resources.
Participate in daily production meetings.
Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure material availability.
Food Safety Compliance and Documentation – SQF
Maintain documents required for customer and regulatory audits.
Maintain procedures, forms, and records related to food safety.
Participate in internal and external audits.
Ensure training records and certifications remain current.
Support applicable food compliance initiatives.
Environmental Health and Safety Liaison (EHS)
Serve as the plant's EHS point of contact and liaison with the EHS Manager.
Coordinate workplace safety inspections.
Monitor incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Participate in the Safety Committee.
Maintain records and documentation required under Ontario legislation.
Coordinate mandatory EHS training programs.
Qualifications
Education
College diploma or university degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in production planning or coordination.
Experience in food industry compliance, including SQF, is preferred.
Experience in Environmental Health and Safety is considered a robust asset.
Skills
Production planning knowledge.
Knowledge of HACCP or SQF standards is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety requirements.
