Elysium Engineering is seeking an experienced Sprinkler Designer to work with us on a project-by-project basis as an independent contractor.

This is not a salaried or hourly employee position. The selected contractor will be offered individual projects and compensated at an agreed fixed rate for each contract.

Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed fire sprinkler layouts and shop drawings.
- Perform complete hydraulic calculations and select appropriate pipe sizes, sprinkler types, K-factors, and design criteria.
- Design systems in accordance with NFPA 13, NFPA 14, applicable building and fire codes, and project requirements.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings.
- Coordinate sprinkler designs with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural systems.
- Prepare accurate material information and revise drawings based on review comments.
- Manage assigned projects independently and meet agreed deadlines.

Requirements

- Proven experience in fire sprinkler system design.
- Strong experience performing and reviewing hydraulic calculations is mandatory.




- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 13 and applicable fire protection standards.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and recognized hydraulic calculation software.
- Ability to interpret construction documents and identify coordination issues.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable communication and commitment to project deadlines.
- Previous experience with Canadian projects and codes is an asset.

Contract Structure

- Independent contractor position.
- Work assigned on a project-by-project basis.
- Compensation agreed upon before the start of each project.
- No guaranteed minimum number of projects or hours.
- The contractor is responsible for managing their own workload and schedule while meeting contractual deadlines.
