Opening Café Manager - Canmore

The Opportunity

We are partnering with an established hospitality group to find an Opening Café Manager for a new premium café opening in Canmore this December.

This is an opportunity to help build a location from the ground up, including supporting pre-opening setup, hiring and developing the team, and establishing strong day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will have meaningful autonomy while being supported by an experienced operations, culinary, coffee, HR, and finance team.

What You'll Do

- Lead the day-to-day operation of the café
- Support pre-opening setup, hiring, onboarding, and team development
- Create schedules, manage labour, approve timekeeping, and oversee ordering
- Maintain high standards across specialty coffee, guest experience, and service
- Coach and develop the café team
- Respond confidently to staffing challenges and operational disruptions
- Work collaboratively with culinary leadership around the café's food program
- Monitor key operating metrics including labour, cost of goods, and cost control
- Participate in quarterly financial reviews and forecasting
- Use sound judgment and independent problem-solving to keep the operation running smoothly

What We're Looking For

- 2+ years of café, specialty coffee, or premium hospitality experience




- Previous people leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of premium coffee and espresso standards
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of labour, ordering, inventory, and cost control
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to stay calm and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with food, bakery, or high-volume café operations is an asset
- Opening experience is an asset but not required
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
