Being a support worker for students with disabilities at CSSMB means accompanying every small step that leads to greater autonomy, confidence, and participation. On a daily basis, you support our students in their essential needs, their school activities, and their interactions, while ensuring their safety and well-being. A deeply human role where empathy, kindness, and collaboration make all the difference.
Responsibilities
- Support the student in their movements, during feeding times, during hygiene moments (changing diapers as needed), in applying and respecting school rules, using or handling necessary materials during educational activities, etc.;
- Support teaching staff by helping them communicate basic concepts regarding cleanliness, dressing, and feeding, etc.;
- Ensure an environment conducive to learning and the development of students' potential;
- Consider the specific needs of students with disabilities in your intervention;
- Apply effective intervention methods in a preventive approach;
- Take necessary measures to promote students' return to calm during crises while ensuring your own safety and that of others;
- Communicate with all stakeholders in the school and community as well as with external partners to meet the needs of students.
Requirements
- Have one (1) year of relevant experience;
- Pass the CSSMB French exam;
- Adopt a qualified and caring posture;
- Have good self-control;
- Believe in the potential of students;
- Respect the privacy and integrity of students;
- Ability to adapt to different situations;
- Ability to work collaboratively while respecting everyone's roles;
- Ability for self-critique regarding your professional intervention and the progress of students;
- Desire to learn and improve your knowledge and skills.
