Project Name: Data Strategy & Various Data Projects Scope: The Artificial Intelligence, Data and Emerging Technologies Division uses a one-government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the Government of Alberta (GoA) balanced with individual client needs.
This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication, and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.
The Data Centre of Excellence requires a resource to support the design and development of analytical data products & services to enable the GoA to better leverage its data assets support implementation of the GoA Data Strategy.
Working within a team, this position plays a fundamental role in ensuring high-quality data analysis, data modeling, development of data visualizations and development of evidence for use across departments and with external stakeholders.
This role will enact the pillars of the Data Strategy by using data to benefit Albertans.
The successful candidate will be a Business Intelligence Analyst with a diverse range of analytical skills and experience in working in multi-faceted roles.
The role may have aspects of any or all the following: data analysis, data modelling, statistical analysis, data governance, data science, data quality, advising, business analysis, data product design and delivery.
Duties: Provides hands-on business intelligence support on the strategic data initiatives that are being undertaken as part of the Data Strategy. A critical responsibility is to translate data into actionable business insights that support strategic decisions by creating dashboards, reports and business KPIs.
Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities.
Works with Manager Analytics Capability Centre to:
Deliver business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external client needs Develop data products based on various data sets Analyze data and prepare results Gather and document client requirements Design and develop data products Capture business and technical metadata for data products Perform data analysis, data quality audits/reviews, statistical analysis and data mining Develop and share data models and products Develop baseline and ongoing outcomes, key results, metrics, and other indicators.
Apply skills to provide insights, support decision-making and facilitate strategic business planning Integrate both quantitative and qualitative data to create business insights Design and create dashboards and custom reporting with various data sources and inputs Escalate issues and risks, as appropriate Work within a multi-vendor/staff environment Equipment Requirements: The Contractor is responsible for supplying all equipment necessary for remote work, including computers, software, printers, supplies, and appropriate office furniture.
All contracted resources must utilize a computer with a modern version of Windows or macOS compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related remote-access software.
Windows is strongly preferred due to system compatibility.
Required remote-access software will be installed on the resource''s local machine.
While the Contractor supplies all physical hardware and work environment setups, the Province will ensure resources are granted the required credentials and access to Government of Alberta systems.
The fixed rate quoted must be inclusive of all overhead, office space and equipment, including supplies,
administrative burden, mark-up and all other costs to perform the Services for the duration of the Contract.
Working Hours: Standard Hours of work are 08:15 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
It is anticipated the role will be primarily remote with the possibility of up to 15% onsite meetings.
However, in the event that onsite attendance is required, the GoA will not cover expenses or any cost related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, or meals and beverages.
Incumbency: This is a net recent role.
Background Check Required: Standard Background Check: The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.
Mandatory Training Courses: Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security awareness training.
There may also be some optional courses as well.
Anticipated Interview Dates Interview are expected to happen two weeks after the posting closes.
