Job Summary The UBC Physical Therapy and Research Clinic is a student-led, fee-for-service Clinic owned and operated by the Department of Physical Therapy within the Faculty of Medicine to provide high-quality physical therapy care grounded in the best available evidence and serve patient populations within the community.

This Part-Time Physical Therapist role for the UBC Physical Therapy and Research Clinic will be responsible for assessing and treating patients and maintaining the full and robust caseload the clinic requires to support student clinical placements.

The candidate must demonstrate a strong desire and focus to provide an optimal clinical experience for patients.

Organizational Status The Department of Physical Therapy provides the only provincial program for the education of entry-to-practice physical therapists.

Through rigorous scholarly activity, high standards of instruction and creative opportunities for learning, the Master of Physical Therapy Program provides a robust foundation that supports the current and future practice of the profession.

The Department is also a research-intensive unit with award winning faculty conducting state-of-the art healthcare research.

This position will report directly to the Clinic Manager, PTRC and take direction from the Clinic Director, PTRC.

Work Performed Independently manages own case load, providing comprehensive Physical Therapy services (assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral, and discharge) to a complex range of patients/clients.

Ensures the provision of evidence informed high-quality care to clients.

Regularly reaches or exceeds PTRC targets for case-load metrics.

Communicates with referring physicians and other health care professionals regarding clients needs.

Collaborates on relevant quality improvement and clinic initiatives as requested.

Acts in a professional manner at all times,



ensuring client centered care to a diverse patient population.

Consequence of Error/Judgement Inappropriate judgment, errors or inattention to detail in patient care, charting, etc. could result in adverse effects to the patients and their care, treatment and recovery.

Inappropriate patient treatment could result in patients and their families becoming frustrated, angry or seeking compensation.

Both could result in damage to the reputation of the PTRC and the Department of Physical Therapy and impact the long-term success of the clinic.

Failure to maintain a full and robust caseload could negatively impact student progression in the MPT Program or their ability to graduate as well as negatively impacting the financial viability of the PTRC.

Errors or lapses in judgement in relation to data privacy and security could jeopardize a patients right to privacy and damage the reputation of the PTRC and the Department of Physical Therapy.

Supervision Received The candidate must be fully competent and independent in their abilities to assess and treat patients and will work independently with established guidelines and standards with wide latitude.

Reports directly to the Clinic Manger, PTRC in regards to scheduling and policies and procedures for clinic operations.

Takes advice and guidance on patient care from the Clinic Director, PTRC.

Supervision Given The position involves training designed to equip the incumbent with the skills necessary to supervise MPT students.

Minimum Qualifications - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with ones own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing ones own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications - Recently licensed Physical Therapist that holds current registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia. - Evidence of ongoing continuing education - Excellence in oral and written communication
