- Ontario Shores is seeking an individual with strong interpersonal skills and excellent initiative to assume the Dietary Aide. This position is responsible for performing the duties of operating the dishmachine/potmachine, working on the beltline, food portioning and working in other areas of the kitchen to provide food service to patients and visitors, batch sandwich assembly for patient, retail and catering services.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Setting up the patient tray line with food that is assembled from production
- Deliver Burlodge meal carts to specific units; undock Burlodge carts from base stations and setup for transport to units
- Assemble patient nourishments by following specified labels provided by the diet office
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces as required ie before any preparation commences
- Move equipment and return to appropriate place to enable cleaning of all surfaces
- Assemble bulk nourishment for units following weekly binder sheets
- Obtain supplies and replenish food items from storeroom and fridges as needed




- Identify any safety issues with equipment or processes and report to management

Requirements

- Completion of High School Diploma preferred
- Food Handlers Certification required

Experience in a hospital or institutional kitchen required

- Knowledge of food preparation in a cook chill environment preferred
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations required

•

Experience with batch cold preparation an asset

- Knowledge of relevant legislation i.e. WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety Act and HACCP requirements
- Positive attendance record with ability to maintain same
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent initiative, effective time management skills, and attention to detail
