YouTube Video Editor & Motion Graphics Designer
Company: Scenzy
Position: Part time contract, with potential for full-time employment
Pay: CA$25–50 per hour, depending on experience and portfolio quality
About Scenzy
Scenzy operates in the YouTube and digital video content space. We’re looking for a highly creative video editor with advanced After Effects skills and hands-on experience creating AI-generated images and videos.
About the role
You’ll edit presenter-led, talking-head YouTube videos, combining footage of the host with extensive custom After Effects animation, premium motion graphics, and AI-generated visuals and transitions.
You should be able to turn spoken explanations into compelling visual sequences using animated typography, diagrams, charts, interfaces, compositing, and custom B-roll. Every element should feel integrated with the presenter and precisely timed to the narration.
We’re looking for someone who brings original ideas, makes strong creative decisions, and can develop and execute visual concepts independently.
The style and quality we expect
- Advanced custom motion graphics: Sophisticated animations with fluid movement, precise timing, depth, and polished detail.
- Creative, seamless transitions: Connect the presenter, graphics, and supporting footage through movement, shape, colour, and visual continuity.
- Strong art direction: Excellent typography, composition, and colour choices that maintain a consistent visual identity.
- Engaging storytelling: Strong opening hooks, tight editing, and purposeful pacing that hold attention and make ideas easy to understand.
- Meticulous finishing: Refined easing, masking, tracking, compositing, colour correction, and layered sound design.
You should know when to build energy with elaborate visuals and when to let the presenter’s message breathe.
Responsibilities
- Edit talking-head YouTube videos from raw footage through to final delivery.
- Identify opportunities for visual storytelling and propose original animation and transition concepts.
- Create advanced motion graphics and animated sequences from scratch in Adobe After Effects.
- Design and refine visual assets in Photoshop.
- Use multiple AI image and video generation models, selecting the right model for each creative task.
- Create custom images, B-roll, animated scenes, and transitions using text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video workflows.
- Refine prompts and reference images to achieve intentional compositions, camera movements, and visual styles.
- Maintain visual consistency across generated shots, correct artifacts, and composite AI assets naturally into the edit.
- Integrate screen recordings, supporting footage, music, and sound effects.
- Handle audio cleanup, colour correction, and final exports.
- Source assets with appropriate usage rights, incorporate feedback, and deliver organised project files on time.
Required skills and experience
- Proven experience editing talking-head YouTube videos, supported by relevant portfolio examples.
- Advanced Adobe After Effects proficiency, including creating original motion graphics from scratch.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
- Practical experience using multiple AI image and video generation models, with examples of your work.
- Strong understanding of animation, visual design, storytelling, and YouTube audience retention.
- Ability to take a creative brief and deliver polished work independently.
- Clear communication, attention to detail, and reliable delivery.
Contract period and full-time opportunity This position starts as a paid, part-time contract with an initial three-month assessment period, with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance, mutual fit, and business needs.
How to apply
Please include
- Your portfolio link and two or three talking-head YouTube videos you personally edited. Briefly explain your contribution to each.
- Examples of your strongest custom After Effects animations and transitions, with timestamps identifying the work you created.
- Examples of AI-generated images or videos you created, naming the models used and briefly explaining your workflow. Include examples integrated into finished edits where available.
