Job Description
We are seeking a Optical Transport Design Engineer to support the expansion and modernization of a national metro and backbone optical network.

This role will translate project plans into detailed logical connectivity and engineering designs using Circuit

Vision, Netcracker, and established network design standards.

Responsibilities
Design logical connectivity for metro, backbone, and core optical transport networks
Translate project plans into detailed engineering requirements and designs
Create and update network designs within Circuit

Vision
Support network additions, removals, migrations, upgrades, and service changes
Incorporate specified equipment into designs based on technical standards
Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity and timelines
Identify missing requirements, technical dependencies, and potential delivery risks
Collaborate with project managers, planners, engineering teams, construction, and downstream implementation teams

Skills and Requirements
Extensive telecommunications experience, ideally 10 to 15+ years
Solid hands-on experience designing optical transport systems
Advanced knowledge of DWDM and OTN technologies
Experience designing metro, backbone, core, or national transport networks
Experience with Ciena, Fujitsu, or comparable optical transport equipment
Understanding of Layer 0 DWDM/CWDM, Layer 1 OTN, and Layer 2 Ethernet or SONET
Experience using Circuit

Vision, Netcracker, or similar telecom design and inventory tools
Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent engineering assignments
Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills Experience with IP networking, microwave, RAN, wireless, or 5G environments
Exposure to telecom network modernization or central-office transformation programs
Experience supporting a large national telecommunications network
Knowledge of engineering automation and process improvement
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field
