Automotive Oil & Lube Technician (Bottom Side Technician) - Vedder, Chilliwack

Valvoline’s Great Canadian Oil Change is looking to hire a Top Side Oil & Lube Technician to be a part of our Vedder team.

What you’ll do

As an Automotive Oil & Lube Technician (Bottom Side Technician) no day is ever dull. You will be on the move, interacting with the team from the bottom position of the vehicle to find the best solutions for their vehicle’s needs. If you are ready to take the initiative, we are here to help you put your career on the quick-track to success.

- Within 3 weeks of training and development – be able to run one bay
- Within 8 weeks of training and development – be able to run two bays
- Within 24 weeks of training and development – be able to run three bays
- Upon Being Hired - additional bonus on top of your hourly base rate from a commission structure on goods/services provided

You will be tasked with following safety protocols and safety call outs while working on the underside of vehicles

- You will be responsible for removing skid plates to access bottom side oil filters
- You will be responsible for removing oil drain plugs and re-installing them to spec
- You will be responsible for visually checking fuel filters and re and re when service called for
- You will be responsible to check front/rear differentials and transfer cases when required based upon service history or service interval
- Learn to be responsible for inventory management, keeping your workstations filled with appropriate oil filters, gaskets, hand towels, etc.…
- Become familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety compliance and other policies and procedures
- Help maintain a clean,



well-organized top side service center and facilitate a safe and secure working environment working in collaboration with the bottom side team members

How you’ll succeed

- Willingness to continue to work towards completion of online training modules in our Valvoline University
- Openness to training and development – as part of our mentor/mentee program – where you will be partnered with a Senior Tech/Management
- You are friendly and willing to work as part of customer-focused team
- Have effective interpersonal, oral communication skills
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs
- Have full mobility and can twist, stoop and bend while working underside vehicles
