Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is a key member of Lind Equipment's Supply Chain team and works under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing domestic and international freight and logistics activities, ensuring the efficient, accurate, compliant and cost-effective movement of goods between suppliers, Lind Equipment facilities, customers and other business partners.
The Logistics Coordinator works closely with the Supply Chain Manager on freight strategy, international sourcing logistics, landed-cost management, customs compliance, carrier and broker relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role has a significant international trade and customs component. Strong working knowledge of tariffs, duties, customs requirements, country-of-origin rules, HS classifications and applicable trade agreements affecting goods moving between Canada, the United States, China, Cambodia and Vietnam is essential.
This position is based at our head office in North York.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate inbound and outbound domestic and international freight shipments, including ocean, air, courier, LTL, FTL and other transportation methods.
· Obtain and evaluate freight quotations, select appropriate carriers and service levels, and book shipments based on cost, timing and operational requirements.
· Track inbound and outbound shipments from origin through final delivery and proactively identify and resolve delays, customs holds, documentation issues and other exceptions.
· Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure shipments move efficiently and in compliance with applicable requirements.
· Prepare, review and maintain shipping and customs documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin and other import/export documentation.
· Ensure accurate HS tariff classification, country of origin and customs information for products and shipments.
· Maintain current working knowledge of tariffs, duties, surtaxes and other trade measures applicable between Canada, the United States, China, Cambodia and Vietnam, and identify potential impacts on Lind Equipment's landed costs and supply chain.
· Monitor changes to tariff programs,
customs regulations, trade agreements and country-of-origin requirements that may affect Lind Equipment.
· Manage duty drawback claims, including gathering and maintaining supporting import, export and customs documentation.
· Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to identify freight, tariff, sourcing and landed-cost risks and opportunities and provide the logistics information and analysis required to support supply-chain decisions.
· Work with Purchasing, Finance and other stakeholders to understand and communicate the landed-cost implications of sourcing decisions, including freight, duties, tariffs and related import costs.
· Support Purchasing and Sales by providing freight quotations, estimated landed costs, shipping options and logistics information required for purchasing decisions, quotations and customer orders.
· Work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure commercial invoices and shipping documentation contain accurate product descriptions, values, HS codes and countries of origin.
· Review customs entries and broker documentation for accuracy and investigate discrepancies in duties, tariffs, classifications or other charges.
· Maintain appropriate customs and trade-compliance records and supporting documentation.
· Act as a primary point of contact for freight carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and other logistics service providers.
· Regularly review freight providers, rates and service performance and identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs while maintaining required service levels.
· Negotiate or assist with the negotiation of freight rates and logistics services.
· Analyze freight costs, shipment patterns, transit times and carrier performance to identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
· Pursue and resolve freight loss, damage and service claims with carriers and logistics providers.
· Assist in resolving international freight and customs issues that could affect inventory availability, production requirements or customer delivery commitments.
· Maintain accurate logistics, freight, customs and trade information within Lind Equipment's systems.
· Work with carriers and internal stakeholders to implement and improve shipping software, systems and logistics technologies.
· Develop and maintain effective logistics processes and documentation to improve accuracy, visibility, efficiency and compliance.
· Perform other logistics, freight, customs and trade-related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics,
freight coordination, international shipping, customs, import/export or a related role.
· Demonstrated experience coordinating both domestic and international freight.
· Strong working knowledge of customs documentation, commercial invoices, bills of lading, HS tariff classifications and country-of-origin requirements.
· Knowledge of tariffs, duties, customs regulations and international trade requirements affecting Canada, the United States, China, Cambodia and Vietnam is essential.
· Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, courier companies and domestic/international carriers.
· Understanding of international ocean and air freight processes and terminology.
· Strong ability to evaluate freight quotations and balance cost, transit time, reliability and business requirements.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when investigating freight, customs and tariff discrepancies.
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
· Strong communication and relationship-management skills when dealing with suppliers, brokers, carriers and internal departments.
· Ability to identify opportunities to reduce freight and landed costs and improve logistics processes.
· Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively with ERP, shipping, freight and carrier systems.
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Supply Chain Manager, Purchasing, Sales, Finance and Operations.

Pay: $60,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
