Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes and safety guidelines
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for order processing and cash handling
- Manage cashier duties, including processing payments accurately and providing change
- Assist customers with menu selections and answer questions about food options
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including kitchen and dining spaces
- Restock supplies and ensure food items are stored properly following food safety protocols
- Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales
- Follow all food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store,
including cleaning work areas, equipment, counters, floors, and customer areas throughout the shift and at closing
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, food service, or restaurant environments preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, for efficient transaction processing
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours
- Basic math skills for cash handling, making change, and inventory counting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Kitchen experience or food industry background is a plus
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and assist customers
- Upselling abilities to promote menu items and enhance sales opportunities
