Youth Support Workers serve as the primary caregivers for children and youth residing in the group home during their assigned shifts. Their principal responsibility is to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of every individual in their care.

Primary Care Responsibilities

- Ensure that the basic needs of children, toddlers, preschoolers, and adolescents—including food, clothing, and shelter—are consistently met.
- Support the educational requirements of residents, including assisting with homework and providing daily programming during times when residents are not attending school.
- Supervise children and youth to maintain a secure and safe environment within the group home.
- Adhere to established daily routines, including staff and resident chores, to foster a structured workplace.
- Provide transportation for residents to and from school and appointments as necessary.

Employee Responsibilities

- Maintain the accuracy and currency of personal records (address, telephone number, insurance beneficiaries, marital status, and other pertinent information).
- Record attendance by clocking in at the start and out at the end of each shift.
- Maintain daily logs, documenting information hourly or whenever significant changes occur.
- Submit weekly timecards to house management for payroll processing.
- Report unsafe acts or conditions within the group home to uphold safety standards.
- Properly maintain all equipment and supplies provided by the company for job responsibilities.

Qualifications

- Candidates must possess Child and Youth Care Worker or Early Childhood Development (ECD) certification, be actively enrolled in a relevant academic program, or hold equivalent credentials.
- A minimum of two years of related experience,



preferably working with children or youth with special needs, is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate strong communication and organizational abilities are required.
- Applicants must be capable of effectively managing high-stress or conflict situations.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license and access to reliable transportation are mandatory.
- Submission of a clean Driver's Abstract is required.

Additional Requirements

- A current Police Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, both dated within the past six months, are required.
- Applicants must hold a valid Alberta driver's license. Certified Youth Worker, ECD, and Youth and Family certifications are necessary for consideration.
- Weekend and part-time positions are available and require suitable candidates.
- Certification in pharmacology medication administration and transportation is required.
- First Aid Child Certification is mandatory.
- Non-violent restraint certification is required.
- Food Handling Certification must be obtained.
- WHMIS certification for chemical safety is necessary.
- Knowledge of laundry protocols and allergy management is essential.
- Familiarity with cultural backgrounds, arts and crafts, music, and dance is valued.
- Participation in health-related recreation activities is expected.
- Understanding and practice of traditional foods and methodologies are required.
- A minimum Class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
- If personal transportation is used for children or youth, proof of insurance with a minimum liability coverage of $2 million must be provided.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 27.0 per week
