The Role:

Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, The Production Manager leads and directs the production team to ensure incoming laundry is processed in a cost-effective and timely manner which meets the customer’s quality expectations.

Supervise and oversee the scheduling of all production plant employees to include vacations. Communicate staff issues with HR regarding performance management - progressive discipline, payroll, benefits, recruitment, health and safety. Monitor hours including overtime to ensure monthly budget targets are met. Direct the flow of new linen into the plant and for storage purposes. Meet with specific vendors to address production challenges and ensure the timely delivery of goods to the plant. Schedule and attend meetings as required. Exhibit professionalism at all times when meeting with vendors, management and plant staff.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities (100% on the Production Floor)

- Closely monitor and analyze resources such as staffing, equipment and materials to ensure optimum utilization can be achieved to maximize budget results pertaining to cents per pound.
- On a daily basis ensure all linen is processed ranging from sorting, washing, drying and finishing.
- Communicate with the Maintenance Department to report equipment deficiencies, downtime and to reconfigure equipment to maximize efficiencies.
- Review hours on a daily basis.
- Oversee the scheduling of all production plant employees to include vacations.
- Coordinate with Supervisors the appropriate placing of staff.
- With the support of Supervisory team, prepare production tracking sheets and record productivity from each piece of equipment.
- Monitor product standards and implement Quality-Control Program.
- Review daily cents per pound spreadsheet.




- Establish goals and objectives for plant operations and work with department Supervisors to establish ways in which to meet and support the goals and objectives.
- Respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from customers from the CS Department.
- Arrange extra deliveries as needed with the Transport Department.
- Communicate staff issues with HR regarding performance management - progressive discipline, payroll, benefits, recruitment, health and safety.
- Support the Operations Manager in preparation of annual performance reviews of Supervisors.
- Develop team building within production management to increase employee morale.
- Provide training to all current hires on equipment operation, safety, and hygiene practices
- Identify training needs of current staff.
- Mentor new Supervisors to understand production flow, familiarity with equipment, leadership, staffing and budgeting.
- Conduct daily production meeting to discuss issues and challenges relating to production and quality standards.
- Demonstrate leadership through participation in weekly operations meeting.
- Aid in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Oversee production inventory and order supplies on a monthly basis.

Secondary Responsibilities

- Monitor and ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed according to government legislation and company policies.
- Review production goals of each employee from their respective station.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of all equipment including basic machine programming.
- Ensure departments are kept clean and orderly.
- Safety Responsibilities
- Lead by example - working and acting safely at all times and providing staff with PPE. Promote and enforce all health and safety rules, practices, regulations, requirements and company policies.
- Perform area safety checks and organization (trip hazards or unsafe or faulty equipment).
- Report and correct unsafe work practices.




- Embody safety and ensure all employees are working in a safe manner.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working order.
- Support investigation of all accidents, injuries, or near-misses and provide support to the disability management program by aiding in the creation of return-to-work programs.

Education: Some post-secondary is required. Equivalencies will be considered.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial laundry or manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Interpersonal skills, team player.

- Ability to analyze, prioritize and multi-task.
- Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.
- Management and leadership skills.
- Good Computer literacy required to complete daily hours and reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is located in a production plant environment and office workplace.

- Requires continual standing, walking, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and repetitive motion.
- Constant exposure to noise from machines in the plant.
- Constant exposure to “moving” equipment – must be alert at all times.
- Constant exposure to lint/dust particles in the air.
- Intermittent exposure to heat and humidity generated from equipment.
- Hep. B vaccination is recommended and provided.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent- Must be available on weekends.

Salary: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year (Commensurate with experience)
