Accounting Clerk

Location: South Burnaby, BC (In-Person)

Position Type: Full time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Starting Salary: $52,000/year depending on experience + benefits

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our team in Burnaby, BC. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this position will primarily focus on managing Accounts Receivable operations while providing high-level support to Accounts Payable and general administrative accounting functions.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, possesses excellent communication skills for client and vendor interactions, and brings a strong high-accuracy mindset to financial data entry and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable (Primary Focus)

- Invoicing & Billing: Generate and distribute accurate, high-volume customer invoices, sales receipts, and credit notes promptly.
- Cash Application: Process and apply daily customer payments (EFT, credit cards, cheques, wire transfers) accurately against outstanding receivables.
- Collections & Client Communication: Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and proactively follow up on overdue accounts via phone and email in a professional, diplomatic manner.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve customer account discrepancies, short payments, or billing inquiries alongside sales and customer service teams.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile AR balances and maintain accurate, up-to-date customer master records.

Accounts Payable (Secondary/Support)

- Invoice Entry: Review, coding,



and entry of vendor invoices into the accounting system with high accuracy.
- Matching & Approval: Perform 3-way matching of vendor invoices against purchase orders and receiving documents; obtain appropriate internal approvals.
- Payment Support: Assist in preparing weekly or bi-weekly check runs and electronic payment schedules (EFT/Wire).
- Vendor Relations: Respond to vendor payment inquiries, perform vendor statement reconciliations and maintain accurate, up-to-date vendor profiles.

General Administrative & Accounting Support

- Assist with month-end financial closing procedures and monthly reporting related to AR and AP.
- Maintain organized physical and digital financial filing systems.
- Support administrative workflows and assist accounting leadership with ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or a general accounting support role.
- Education: Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
- Location: Must be able to commute reliably to our office in Burnaby, BC for daily in-person work (Monday through Friday).
- Software Proficiency:




- Intermediate to advanced experience with ERP/Accounting software (e.g., Acumatica, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems).
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (data sorting, basic formulas, VLOOKUPs) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills for client collections and vendor relations.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily task deadlines.
- Practical problem-solving ability with a collaborative, team-first attitude.
