Position Summary

RM Sotheby’s is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its finance team at our global headquarters in Blenheim, Ontario. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this position will oversee key accounting functions, support daily departmental operations, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records.

The successful candidate will play an important role in month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, financial reporting, tax and government filings, internal controls, and the investigation of accounting discrepancies. This role requires a hands-on, results-driven professional who can manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across the organization. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive accounting experience and have or be actively working toward completion of their Canadian CPA designation.

Responsibilities

- Perform accounting and finance-related duties delegated by the Corporate Controller, Global Accounting Officer, and Chief Financial Officer.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and investigate discrepancies arising during financial statement and supporting file preparation, and work with the appropriate parties to resolve them.
- Maintain and monitor the company’s accounting records and conduct monthly and quarterly reviews.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare monthly accruals and investigate outstanding items.
- Prepare accounting and financial reports as requested.
- Analyze financial information and summarize the company’s financial position.
- Review and authorize cheque payments and wire transfers in accordance with established approval processes.
- Assist with financial and tax audits.
- Prepare and review U.S. sales tax reconciliations.
- Oversee the preparation and remittance of HST and other government payments and filings.




- Help manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Support the consolidation and reporting of U.S.-based operations.
- Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with applicable GAAP requirements.
- Support management with corporate requirements, including legal entity filings, tax planning and implications, government filings, and other compliance matters.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control processes and accounting systems.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Additional Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline.
- Currently enrolled in or completing the requirements for a Canadian CPA designation.
- A minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains) is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience supporting or consolidating U.S.-based entities are strong assets.
- Robust investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-management capabilities.
- Highly effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple assignments accurately and within established deadlines.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
