In-Home K-8 Tutor-Mentor - Autism & ADHD Learning Support - Langley, BC

TutorBright is currently hiring multiple experienced in-home Tutor-Mentors in Langley and Langley Township, BC, with a particular need for tutors available near the Walnut Grove and surrounding Langley communities.

We are particularly interested in Tutor-Mentors who have experience supporting elementary-aged students with autism, ADHD, learning differences, and other developmental or communication needs.

The Tutor-Mentor Position

At TutorBright, our tutors are also mentors, which is why we call this position Tutor-Mentor. Tutor-Mentors help students strengthen their academic skills while also building confidence, independence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning.

Our Tutor-Mentors create engaging and supportive sessions that are adapted to each student's individual strengths, needs, interests, and learning style.

For some students, this may include incorporating games, hands-on activities, movement or body breaks, shorter activities, repetition, visual supports, or breaking instructions into smaller steps.

What We Are Looking For

-Experience supporting children on the autism spectrum
-Experience supporting children with ADHD, including students who may be hyperactive, impulsive, or have difficulty maintaining attention
-Experience working with children with learning, developmental, behavioural, sensory, or communication needs
-Experience tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or working directly with children
-A friendly, outgoing, patient, and encouraging approach
-The ability to build rapport with energetic and active learners
-The ability to adapt activities, explanations, and instructions for different students
-Comfort incorporating games, movement, breaks, and varied activities into academic sessions
-A positive and supportive approach to redirection and behaviour
-The ability to identify areas of academic strength and difficulty and adjust sessions accordingly

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Reliable transportation to students' homes in Langley and Langley Township
-Current or completed university or college education

-Education or teachers' college
-Psychology
-Behavioural science
-Child and youth care
-Developmental services
-Early childhood education
-Speech-language sciences
-Occupational therapy or related studies
-Social work

-Students with learning differences
-Students with language or communication needs
-Students who benefit from additional structure, repetition, movement breaks, or shorter activities
-Students working toward greater independence with schoolwork, organization, and learning routines

Experience supporting multiple types of learning or developmental needs is a strong asset.

Our Approach

We are looking for Tutor-Mentors who can meet students where they are academically and adapt their approach as they get to know them.

For many of the students we support,

sitting at a desk and completing worksheets for an entire session will not be the most effective approach. Strong Tutor-Mentors are able to make learning interactive and engaging while still working toward explicit academic goals.

This may involve incorporating a student's interests, changing activities throughout the session, using games or hands-on learning, providing movement breaks, simplifying instructions, or finding new ways to explain a concept.

We also value Tutor-Mentors who can communicate observations about a student's progress, strengths, and areas that may require continued support.

Why Work with TutorBright?

-Flexible part-time hours
-Regularly scheduled students
-Opportunities to work with multiple students in your area
-Resources and materials to support your sessions
-Ongoing support from the TutorBright team
-The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' confidence, independence, and learning
