Reporting to the Head of Education and Learning, Part-time FRE Bilingual Educators are responsible for the preparation and delivery of unique, accessible, and age-appropriate programming for students, families, youth, and adults. Bilingual Educators create a nurturing and encouraging environment that supports language acquisition and practice. Bilingual Educators understand museum education practices and meet ethical standards set out by the Canadian Museums Association Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Responsibilities

· Prepares and delivers interactive gallery programs that follow set objectives for students aged 3-18

· Prepares and implements studio projects based on provided objectives and lesson plans for students aged 3-18

· Participates in the development and evaluation of relevant and accessible programming for a range of ages and abilities

· Promotes and safeguards the welfare of students and vulnerable adults following AGA policies and codes of conduct

· Participates in ongoing research of museum education pedagogy and practice

· Engages students and the public in conversation about exhibitions and their key messages through educational and interpretative lines of inquiry

· Participates in the investigation and experimentation of featured studio art-making practices

· Maintains and prepares art studios and learning spaces

· Upholds a regularized pattern of communication with supervisor and support staff.

· Completes all assignments and required readings

· Attends regular training sessions and evaluation meetings as scheduled

· Carries out related administrative duties leading up to and following program sessions

Qualifications

· Ability to communicate fluently, both orally and in writing, in French and English

· Experience teaching and mentoring in the target language

· Possesses an undergraduate or graduate degree in education, fine arts, art history, museum studies or a related field,



or is working towards this

· Experience working with kids and youth

· Knowledge of the Alberta Program of Studies and current research in Education

· Knowledge of art history and contemporary art-making practices

· Experience with studio artmaking

· Excellent organisational and time management skills

· Versatile and able to adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences

· Team player with the ability to work independently

Special Requirements

· Successful completion of records check including working with vulnerable populations

· Successful completion of First Aid Training

This is a part-time position. Assigned shifts are based on programming needs and work hours fluctuate weekly; no minimum hours are guaranteed. Required availability is 12-28 hours per week with exceptions. May be requested to work overtime, evenings, and weekends outside of stated availability.
