Materials Scheduler
Location: Peterborough, Ontario

Position Summary
A well-established manufacturer of complex, highly engineered equipment is seeking a Materials Scheduler for its Peterborough operation.
Reporting to the Supply Chain and Quality Manager, the Materials Scheduler will create and manage manufacturing schedules to ensure products are completed on time and materials are available when required. This position balances customer demand, production capacity, labor requirements, and inventory levels to support effective manufacturing operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage weekly production schedules while balancing capacity and labor requirements.
- Use ERP systems, data analytics, and continuous improvement principles to optimize planning performance.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams to improve efficiency and production flow.
- Coordinate resources and planning activities to support on-time production and customer deliveries.
- Proactively identify and communicate risks affecting production schedules, material availability, or customer commitments.
- Monitor the progress of units throughout the manufacturing process.
- Work directly with Production Supervisors and department leads to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
- Identify production bottlenecks, material shortages, labour constraints, and other risks before they affect delivery.
- Review labour availability and production capacity when establishing schedules.
- Adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, material availability, and production conditions.
- Provide management with accurate production updates and projected completion dates.
- Participate in production meetings and communicate priorities to the appropriate departments.
- Support improvements to scheduling, planning, and workflow processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or production management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, capacity planning, and material requirements planning.
- Experience using ERP systems for planning and scheduling.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience implementing or improving planning systems, tools, and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings, work orders, and bills of material.
- Willingness to spend significant time on the production floor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom, project-based, or low-volume manufacturing.
- Experience with advanced planning software, predictive analytics, or AI-assisted planning tools.
Security Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen or have held Canadian permanent resident status for more than five years.
- Must be eligible to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance through the Canadian Contract Security Program.

Pay: $80,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
