Junior Estimator / Drafter

Metro Glass Products Ltd. is looking for a motivated Junior Estimator / Drafter to join our Edmonton team.

This is a outstanding opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the commercial construction and aluminum glazing industry. We are willing to train the right person and are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with drawings and numbers, and eager to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside our estimating and project management team, your responsibilities will include:

· Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda

· Assisting with quantity takeoffs for commercial aluminum windows, doors, storefront, curtain wall, and glazing systems

· Preparing and updating estimates and material takeoffs

· Assisting with the preparation of shop drawings and fabrication drawings

· Creating and revising drawings using AutoCAD

· Reviewing dimensions, elevations, details, and project requirements

· Requesting pricing from suppliers and helping compile project costs

· Maintaining organized project and estimating files

· Assisting project managers with submittals, shop drawings, revisions, and other project documentation

· Communicating with suppliers, contractors, and internal staff as required

· Learning our aluminum systems, products, fabrication methods, and installation requirements

What We’re Looking For

· Experience or education in AutoCAD, architectural technology, engineering technology, construction estimating, drafting, or a related field

· Ability to read or willingness to learn how to read architectural and construction drawings

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Good mathematical and problem-solving skills

· Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other computer programs





· Strong organizational and time-management skills

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

· Good written and verbal communication skills

· Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Experience in the Following Would Be an Asset

· Commercial glazing or aluminum windows and doors

· Curtain wall or storefront systems

· Construction estimating

· AutoCAD drafting

· Bluebeam

· Reading architectural specifications and drawings

· Commercial construction

Previous glazing experience is an asset but is not required. We are willing to train someone who has the right attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn.
