Formedge Inc. is seeking a mechanically inclined Machine Setup Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with machines, solving mechanical problems, and taking pride in producing high-quality precision parts.
We are looking for individuals who naturally understand mechanical systems. Many successful candidates have backgrounds working on cars, equipment, tools, or other hands-on mechanical projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and adjusting production machinery to manufacture high-volume cold formed parts used in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup and operate multi-station cold heading machines for production runs
- Install and align tooling including dies, punches, and transfer fingers
- Adjust machines to ensure parts are produced within engineering specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and part specifications
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions
- Monitor machine operation and identify potential defects or mechanical issues
- Make mechanical adjustments and troubleshoot problems to maintain part quality
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as lubrication, tooling changes, and replacing small machine components
- Assist engineering with tooling improvements and new product development
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment around machinery
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Previous experience working with industrial machinery is preferred
- Experience with machine setup and die installation is considered a solid asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to think mechanically
- Ability to perform minor machine maintenance such as lubrication, component replacement, and tooling changes
- Physically capable of lifting tooling and working around industrial equipment
