We're Looking for a Top-Level Technician
We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled Journeyman Automotive Technician who takes pride in being one of the strongest technicians in the shop.
This is not an entry-level Journeyman position. We are looking for a technician who can diagnose difficult problems, produce consistently, work independently, and complete repairs properly the first time.
The ideal candidate is someone who is confident in their abilities, takes ownership of their work, and has a proven track record of strong productivity without sacrificing quality.
If you are a high-performing technician looking for a busy shop where your skill, efficiency, and experience are recognized and rewarded, we want to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability.
- Strong productivity and time-management skills.
- The ability to consistently complete quality work within appropriate labour times.
- The ability to diagnose and repair vehicles independently without requiring constant assistance.
- Strong knowledge of steering, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, drivability, cooling systems, and general automotive repair.
- The ability to handle more difficult diagnostic and repair work.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to fixing vehicles correctly the first time.
- Strong inspection skills and the ability to identify legitimate safety and maintenance concerns.
- Accountability for their workmanship and productivity.
- A positive, professional attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to assist and mentor apprentices and less-experienced technicians when required.
Diagnostics and Repairs
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical concerns using diagnostic equipment, test drives, technical information, and experience.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on a wide variety of domestic and import vehicles.
- Accurately determine root causes rather than simply replacing parts.
- Perform repairs involving brakes, steering, suspension, cooling systems, charging and starting systems, drivability concerns, HVAC, and other vehicle systems.
- Clearly document diagnostic findings and recommended repairs.
- Perform test drives and quality-control checks to verify repairs.
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship.
Productivity and Quality
We operate a busy automotive repair facility and place a high value on both productivity and quality.
Our Journeyman Technicians are expected to:
- Manage their workload effectively and maintain strong productivity.
- Complete repairs within reasonable industry labour times.
- Minimize comebacks through accurate diagnosis and quality workmanship.
- Take ownership of assigned work from diagnosis through completion.
- Communicate promptly when additional time, parts, or authorization are required.
- Maintain accurate and thorough work-order documentation.
- Help keep work flowing efficiently through the shop.
We are not interested in sacrificing quality for speed. We are looking for technicians who have the experience and ability to deliver both.
Team and Shop Expectations
- Work collaboratively with Service Advisors, technicians, tire technicians, and management.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to apprentices when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Properly maintain tools, equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
- Follow established work-order, quality-control, and safety procedures.
- Continue developing technical skills through training and industry education.
- Contribute positively to the overall performance and culture of the shop.
Safety
Follow all company safety policies, safe-work procedures, and equipment operating procedures. Proper PPE must be used as required, and unsafe conditions or equipment concerns must be reported immediately.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Automotive Service Technician certification.
- Strong automotive diagnostic and electrical skills.
- Proven experience as a productive automotive technician.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Own professional automotive technician tools.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and customer service.
What We Offer
We believe strong technicians should be recognized and rewarded for what they bring to the shop.
- Competitive compensation based on experience, ability, and productivity.
- Opportunity for high-performing technicians to earn at the top end of the position's compensation range.
- Consistent workflow in a busy automotive repair environment.
